the challenge

A strong bundle offer had no path to actually build one.

Glade Optics wanted to encourage customers to buy a full ski setup by offering a discount across goggles, helmets, and accessories. But there wasn’t actually a bundle flow on the site.

The existing goggle quiz was another missed opportunity. It helped shoppers find the right goggle, then sent them to a standard PDP with no obvious next step for adding a helmet or other gear.

The Approach

Starting with the product shoppers had already chosen.

The builder follows a simple sequence: goggles → helmet → on-mountain essentials → off-mountain accessories.

Goggles are the anchor product. Shoppers coming from the quiz can start the bundle with their recommended goggle already selected. On PDPs, the bundle is surfaced alongside the standard add-to-cart flow.

Helping shoppers find compatible gear.

Compatible helmets and accessories are shown first with a “Works best with [selected goggle]” label. Shoppers still have access to the full assortment, but they don’t have to figure out compatibility from scratch.

Keeping the whole kit visible as shoppers move through the flow.

A sticky progress bar shows each step in the bundle. Before a product is selected, each step uses a category icon. Once something is added, that icon changes to the product thumbnail.

Tapping the bar opens a review panel with the current kit, running subtotal, and controls to edit or remove items.

Making the products easier to compare.

Each step uses product cards with the information shoppers need to compare options quickly: image, name, short description, key features, price, and bundle savings.

Variant selection and full specs live in a modal so shoppers can get more detail without loading the main flow with everything at once.On single-select steps, choosing a product moves the shopper forward automatically.

On steps where more than one item can be added, shoppers can either continue or keep browsing without losing what they already picked.

The impact

A clearer path from one product to a complete kit.

The bundle builder creates a new shopping path around customers who are already actively choosing a goggle. Instead of sending them back into the catalog to piece together the rest of the setup, the flow keeps the kit visible, surfaces compatible gear, and gives shoppers enough information to compare products as they go.

Baymard’s research found that 68% of desktop ecommerce sites don’t provide enough information in cross-sells for shoppers to evaluate the products being recommended, which can undermine upsell efforts.

This design is meant to close that gap while using bundling as an AOV lever. Progressive disclosure gives shoppers enough information to compare options at a glance, with full specs one tap away.
